Sufi singer Pyare Lal Wadali is no more. He suffered a heart attack yesterday at about 11:00 pm after which he was immediately taken to Fortis Hospital, Amritsar. Wadali remained there for next five hours as doctors tried to revive him but couldn’t. He breathed his last at 4:00 in the morning. Pyare Lal was the younger of the Wadali brothers. His body will be taken to his native village Wadali where people will be allowed to pay their last respects to the departed soul.
Pyare Lal belonged to the fifth generation of singers-cum-musicians. Elder brother Puranchand Wadali, was a wrestler and was also a regular in an akhara for 30 years while Pyarelal contributed to the meagre family income. Some of his famous compositions were Tu maane yaa na maane dildara, Sauda ikko jeha, Heer. He also sang a Tane Weds Manu song Rangrez.
