Shashi Kapoor passes away in Mumbai


Veteran Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor breathed his last in Mumbai on Monday. Actor died at the age of 79. Veteran actor was awarded with Padma Bhusan in 2011, was suffering serious illness from past few months and breathed last at Kokila Ben Hospital Mumbai. Shashi Kapoor was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award also in 2015, was under constant medical supervision. As Soon as his nephew Rishi kapoor got the news of his demise he left the shooting to reach Mumbai.


Shashi Kapoor, born as Balbir Raj Kapoor on March 18, 1938, worked in over 175 films as an actor. He also produced several hit films like Junoon, Kalyug, Vijeta and Utsav. Apart from directing 1991 Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Ajooba, Shashi Kapoor also directed a Russian movie Vozvrashcheniye Bagdadskogo Vora in 1988.

Shashi Kapoor started his film career as a child actor. He worked in brother Raj Kapoor’s Aag (1948) and Awaara (1951). Now he was a retired Indian film actor and producer. He had appeared in a large number of Hindi films as well as in a few English-language films.
